de Havilland DH.37 Aircraft - photo wallpapers; Megawallpapers.org : De Havilland's first venture into the field [br]of private-owner aircraft was the de [br]Haviliand D.H.37, a two-seat biplane [br]built to the specification of Alan Butler, a [br]well-known aviator and DH director. The [br]first of two aircraft flew in June 1922 and [br]the second in 1924, the latter being sold [br]to Australia. Butler's aircraft was used [br]extensively over the next five years, and [br]in 1927 its Rolls-Royce Falcon III engine [br]was exchanged for a 224kW [br]A.D.C. Nimbus, the aircraft being converted [br]to single-seat configuration for [br]racing as the D.H.37A. However, in [br]June that year it crashed while flying as a [br]two-seater, killing the passenger and injuring [br]the pilot. The Australian D.H.37 had a longer [br]life, being used initially by the Controller [br]of Civil Aviation and later by the Guinea [br]Gold Company in New Guinea, being the [br]first aeroplane in that country. It crashed [br]in New South Wales in March 1932.
