Douglas DF-151 Aircraft - photo wallpapers; Megawallpapers.org : In the early 1930s, in response to the growing market for long-range commercial flying boats, Douglas Aircraft developed a twin-engined aircraft in this class capable of carrying 32 passengers on short flights, and 16 (in sleeping accommodation) on long-haul) routes. Altought the aircraft clearly had numerous attributes, Douglas failed to find a buyer in the United States, and sold the prototype and first three production aircraft to the Soviet Union. After being subjected to a thorough evalution, they were assigned to air Transport duties, mainly in the Artic regions. Two Douglas DFs were also acquired by the Japanese government, and tested under the designation Navy Experimental Type D Flying Boat, in common with the then established Japanese pracice of purchasing one or two foreign types for use in comparative trials with Japanese-designed aircraft.Country of origin: USA [br]_________________________________________________________________________________________________ [br]Engines: two 1000hp Wright SGR-1820-G-2 radials [br]_________________________________________________________________________________________________ [br]Wingspan: 28.86 m (95ft) [br]_________________________________________________________________________________________________ [br]Lenght: 21.3 m (96ft 10in) [br]_________________________________________________________________________________________________ [br]Height: 7.47 m (24ft 6in) [br]_________________________________________________________________________________________________ [br]Weight loaded: 12,927 kg (28,500lb) [br]_________________________________________________________________________________________________ [br]Cruising speed: 286 km/h (178 mph) [br]_________________________________________________________________________________________________ [br]Service celling: 4235 m (13,900ft) [br]_________________________________________________________________________________________________ [br]Range: 5311 km (3300 miles) [br]_________________________________________________________________________________________________ [br]Passengers + crew: 16-32 + 4 [br]_________________________________________________________________________________________________
