Tilda Swinton - biography; photo wallpapers; Megawallpapers.org: Striking, translucentskinned actress whose ethereal beauty has been a major asset on a number of very unusual projects. Educated at Cambridge, Swinton has acted with the Royal Shakespeare Company and appeared in the films Friendship's Death (1987) and Play Me Something (1989) but is best known (relatively speaking) for her work in the Derek Jarman films Caravaggio (1986), his segment in Aria (1988), The Last of England (1987), War Requiem (1988), The Garden (1990), and Edward II (1992), for which she won the Venice Film Festival's Best Actress Award as the cold, repressed Queen Isabella. She had a major triumph as the title character in Orlando (1993), a dazzling adaptation of Virginia Woolf's novel about an English aristocrat whose life spans four centuries-and two genders!
