Botanic Garden Wallpapers

Botanic Garden - Faculty of Agriculture, University of Maribor, Slovenia (wallpapers): On the slight slopes of the Mt of Pohorje only a few kilometres away from Maribor, a new botanic garden was established in 2002. Being a university town, Maribor needs such a garden of the needs of study of botany on all the levels of education. Besides that, the botanic garden plays an important role in some other aspects as well. The autochtonic and foreign flora is presented here, especially some floristical rareties of Pohorje and other parts of Northeastern Slovenia. The garden is at the same time a scientific and researching institution, open for public. Basic information Botanic Garden of Faculty of Agriculture University of Maribor has an area of about 8 hectares (20 acres) and is a part of a larger agricultural estate run by the Faculty. A great amount of work has been done since 1994 and many plants were planted. Today a visitor can find a well tended garden, offering a lot to either an amateur or a professional visitor. Since the year 1999, the garden is a member of Botanic Gardens Conservation International. The garden was officially opened on 24 th May, 2002, exactly on the European Day of Parks. Since then it welcomes visitors every day.
