It is the national airline of the internationally unrecognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, operating scheduled services from Nicosia to Turkey. Charters to destinations in Europe, mainly England, must be operated via Turkey due to the international dispute (Cyprus-Conflict) with Cyprus. The airline is not allowed to fly from another country than Turkey to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Its main base is Ercan International Airport (ECN). The airline was established in December 1974 and started operations in February 1975. It is also known as Cyprus Turkish Airlines.
