She grew up in New York City and went to Saint Ann's School alongside her Bringing Rain (2003) costar, Paz de la Huerta. Also, during high school, she attended some classes at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and appeared in a number of plays there. She has been linked to well-known actor Michael Pitt. She also dated aspiring actor Chris Paolucci, who also attended American Academy of Dramatic Arts and now lives and works in NYC. She currently resides in Los Angeles. In addition to acting, she is a budding playwright and drummer. In 2005, she played Lolita (a reference to Vladimir Nabokov's novel Lolita), a teenage girl, in Broken Flowers, in which she appeared completely nude in front of Bill Murray's character. Richard Roeper listed her performance as one of the five "Most startling nude scenes of the year" for 2005.
