During World War II the RAF used some as liaison aircraft. The original Hornet Moth was built with tapering wings, but these

attitude: there was a tendency for the tips to stall, causing
embarrassment to the pilot and often damage to the aeroplane. de
Havilland offered owners of the DH87A replacement wings of the new
