The family soon moved to San Francisco, where Tera Patrick did the bulk of her growing up. Tera Patrick's mother moved back to Thailand shortly after, leaving Tera Patrick with her father. At the age of thirteen, she was spotted by a talent scout while wandering around Fisherman's Wharf wearing an Ozzy Ozbourne t-shirt. Tera Patrick soon signed with the Ford Agency and spent the next five years working as a mainstream model. Tera Patrick grew into a stunningly beautiful young woman, but still found that work was hard to come by for someone with her exotic features and mixed ethnicity. She quit modeling and devoted herself to school, attaining a degree in microbiology. Tera Patrick got a job as a nurse, but soon found herself pining for her days in front of the camera.
